My father *loves* French literature. He loved that I loved reading, but he was uncomfortable with the fact that I mostly wasn't interested in "the classics" but rather read a ton of scifi and fantasy. So he kind of shoved the classics down my throat the way other kids have to be told to eat vegetables (not me, I love vegetables).
