If I read the opening note to the second chapter correctly, Dave O'Brien is the father and his daughter Katie, of whom he speaks in the past tense, is the one who did most of the writing. It seems you are right. And I feel like I felt when I discovered that Trine Michelsen was an exceptional human being only after she was dead. I hate it when people I admire die before I can properly thank them.
