exciting chapter. love alex's tough love approach to saving the muggle kids. and seriously though, where the hell are those dinetah aurors? it almost makes me wonder if manuelito doesn't have someone on the inside....
Amazing chapter. It was very exciting to see Alex do so many things at the same time, keep the werewolves from going into the population, saving the two muggles. I guess john is now gonna capture her. Why the hell are the aurors not responding to the trace?
The only rule in your fics, Inverarity, is that there are no rules. So far John Manuelito seems entirely bad. There is no other character that has no redeeming qualities. My guess is that he will have some as well, and as a result Alex will survive the encounter. Or Diana / Thorn / Huckstein will show up and save her. Which is too predictable. She does have to survive, right? You have another 3 books to get rid of her in!
And now I have to wait until Friday with nothing but a few theories...
Is there any way I can get the comments forwarded to my email (as I do on non-Livejournal blogs - this is the only one I follow on LiveJournal.) A lot of interesting theories are proposed in the comments but it's not always possible for me to read them here if I'm at work :)
Are the aurors perhaps watching her, thinking she is really in cahoots with John, and not realising she is in danger, and they rather collect more trace evidence against her, or is it magical territory, so the trace, being meant for muggle areas, is not being watched?

I have to second Ascot, it's not clear that the two men who materialized were speaking to each other. Adding a little something that made it clearer that they either didn't see Alex or weren't talking to her. The first reading was that they were Aurors responding to the trace. It became clear what they were after I knew what happened to them.
The one Witch's comment that 'Nothing is going right' suggests the Manuelito led witches just tried a coup and it did not go as they wanted. Won't say they lost yet, we simply don't enough, but it looks that way.
This would explain why the Aurors are busy and not tracing Alex.
I think the only way is to create your own LiveJournal account and track posts on my LJ with it (which will allow email forwards). This also has the advantage of allowing you to post without waiting for me to get home from work to unscreen your post.
WOW! Amazing chapter. Probably the last few and this have been among the best of the series. So much tension but you can really see Alex's admirable qualities. The immediate urge to flee the cabin but then she quickly thought through the consequences and faced the danger. Smart about getting up on that rock and working with those teens (their reactions realistic too). I thought for a second that she hexed the aurors again. Too long till Friday!
I think the coup idea is really smart. She is making a whole bunch of noise not to attract auror attention. And as a bad guy, John needs some big, master plan too.
next tO Diana Grimm fighting Abraham.... BEST FIGHT SCENE EVER!!
just gotta wonder if those werewolves will feel the stings and the scars in the morning when they turn back into regular peeps..and...will they remember it was Alex who gave them the "love marks"???? I think we'll see the werewolves come back and have a little Johnny snack after Alex gives him a ass whippin!!! I can sense some serious "ownage" by the look on his face at the end of the chapter....5 bucks on alex!! hahahahahaha
The aurors didn't show up imediately when she broke into the hotel either - and she spent the night there. Besides, if they check the frst place she used magic, they'll find a dead woman, an imobilised man and an empty hogan - which the aurors probably know very well to be the place the werewolves are sopposed to be contained. I think that's enough to keep them too busy to catch Alexandra coup or not.

John Manuelito will be Alexandra's first kill. First, but not last.
