Oh, I'm certain she doesn't match up to what you believe perfectly. But I also believe that people want their protagonist (as a writer or reader) to match up to their moral code and essentially do what they would do, at least on a broad level. The closer the match, the happier the writer/reader tends to be.

Granted, sometimes a story is written differently on purpose. But as a general rule, I've found that the protagonist almost always reflects the author's views to some degree.
