I read them a few years ago at the suggestion of my parents. It took me two weeks of pretty solid reading, which was actually a great way of reading them because they are so immersive. One of the things that has always struck me about the books is the way the narrator is such a blank. You learn almost nothing about him, which makes it (in my opinion) easier to sink into the world because his viewpoint can so easily become your own.

I loved the series, although I do remember thinking the last couple were much less interesting/involving/I can't think of the word I really want here.
