I've always had good luck putting stuff out for adoption on the corner. I wouldn't put out true junk, just stuff we don't have room or use for. I just want it to go to someone who needs it. Otherwise it's to the thrift stores. And I'm quite happy to pick up things I can use that other people set out. Although I have a feeling I'm much more "in the boonies" than you are, it's easier to set things by the road.
