I read this a while ago and thought it was a really good book. I have a background in the pathology laboratory, and even though I don't work in that field anymore, I still find it very interesting. I wasn't all that familiar with the history behind cancer treatment, so this put it into context for me.

Another good book on a similar vein is "How We Die: Reflections of Life's Final Chapter" by Sherwin B. Nuland
