lol, it WOULD be like alexandra to want to rush into things practically her first/non long distance relationship...
again, i like the balance you strike here in being realistic about thing things that kids at that age do without being over detailed like ahem, much of fanfic.
larry albo continues to intrigues me...
and the thought of mummy zombie baby lurking in the woods is super creepy :/
Hmmmmmmm the ending was a bit of a surprise, but mostly this chapter was really funny, and revealing in a couple of ways. Kind of weird that Alex sensed that maybe that mummy thing followed her to Charmbridge......or was led to Charmbridge by someone. It's unfortunate that her little dueling club was stopped before it got a firm foundation on making them better at dueling. The incident with the stone bust was hilarious, and the final reveal about what Alex's gonna do...weeeeeelllll....u might have to post a warning to underage readers about what MIGHT/WILL happen. I feel bad for Sonja, a dance is a bad time to get the shaft relationship wise. Now..I'm wondering what will happen next....ooooooo Friday is only 4 days away......but then it's another LOOOOONG wait for the next book since this one is only what...42 chappies long?!?!?!?! I'm treasuring every chapter, and will probably re-read all four books till the next book comes out...and HHD to top it off.....GREAT WRITING Inverarity! Counting down also to the next Quick-E CON!!! I'll be at least at the hotel for one day at CapClave
So whats up with Anna anyway? Is she just being a friend, or do I sense something more in her reaction to Alex's plan to do it with Torvald?
I think Larry is actually being nice to Alex, though he tries his best not to show it.
Can't wait to see what happens with the naming of Alex by C&F. I hope their grannies are not trying to take advantage of Alex. I know C&F wouldn't try to hurt her, but I am not so sure about the grannies.
Somehow I doubt Alex will go through with it. I noticed how many people find the Alex/Torvald relationship out of the blue, he's always had a soft spot for her though ever since 6th grade, while he was shuffling her closer to Larry (the whole rat thing). He went out of his way to tell her that he quit MMS after she did, he truly wanted her to know and not think him a total 'sick creep' as she had accused the MMS members of being.
Not to mention he did ask her to dance in all of both winter balls she attended. But i do agree that he is a bit bland for being a trickster. Would have been nice if we'd actually seen or at least heard of his mischief before stars above. A simple run in outside the deans office would have been ok.
That creepy baby mummy following her is curious. It does accent that perhaps it wasn't John trying to kill her earlier. My theory is that it was someone within the original Thorn Circle - the person who might have tried to obliviate Alex as a baby only to have the spell deflect upon Hecate. Someone who would be very angry with Alexandra for giving his name to the Aurors...
What really bothers me though is that i have this horrible feeling that Abraham Thorn is going to die. I really hope I'm wrong on this prediction, because despite being a terrorist, he is one of my favorite characters. But we have seen more of him in this book than all the others combined - and we're to see him again soon. The whole bit with Caudia and Livia getting closer again, Alex exploring with boys, and Abrahams promise that he would die for any of his children just seems to support this, and build a platform to help her cope with her fathers death.
Another great chapter at keeping up with the "normal" happenings at Charmbridge. Alex does seem a bit young for sex so Anna's reaction is reasonable. But once you consider that she feels she doesn't have that much time left then it makes more sense. I was thinking that she was interested in contraception after learning about her mother. I am a bit surprised that she would so readily agree to being Named by the grannies. She has been used by so many people before. Love the comment on once a boy kisses you,he thinks he has to protect you.
Alex does seem young at 14, but then if I remember what I was thinking about when I was 14 I can recall that sex was pretty high on the list. But its an age with a lot of variation in physical maturity too... Never mind the mental maturity.
I think that Alex and Larry will eventually wind up together... Or at least have a passionate kiss.

So... I do hope it's Torvald that kicks the can.
