I haven't seen body paint in the real world, but when I saw Mystique in X-Men, who is basically wearing body paint and scales, I thought... hmmm Robert Heinlein. And then of course there are the Sports Illustrated swim suit issues that feature body paint only swim suits. Not that any of that is practical.
