I'll take you suggestion - I vaguely remember Job as a story about q very narrow minded man who wakes up in a series of alternate worlds because God and the Devil are testing him. In this story God is the bad guy. And there is a romance with a Scandinavian woman who provides the dope-slaps for his stupidity while simultaneously being in love with him and meeting all his needs. And she makes great sandwiches. And she is a Valkyrie. I'm sure she has red hair too, he was very big on red hair.
