This was the first Austen book I read (Still the only one I managed to finish), so maybe my expectations weren't raised by the others but I found it sufficiently funny. The primary reason I read it was that it sounded like a perspective-flip of the second Aubrey-Maturin novel. I remember thinking it needed more sex, but I'd probably think that about pretty much anything written in regency england.
