I"m not a light novel fan, but you probably didn't pick out a good example of what a light novel could be, though it might be a popular one lol.
this reminds me of how fun anime genres can be.
You don't NEED to put in a complicated world building, you can just say "the world is populated with these people and that's what they do" and there's something kind of beautiful about that, you know? It reminds me a little of how, as we played make believe as kids, we would just accept, Okay. You're the red power ranger now. Now, you're the SUPER red ranger! and you're a jedi! Whoa!
It's pretty neat. and also terrible. but also neat :)
The other problem is... japanese is really hard to translate fluidly to english. Not only do they put sentences together oddly, but they focus on different thoughts and things than english does.They tell stories differently, and that can be very difficult to translate properly.
Translating a novel like this would be extra hard because if you add too much of yourself into the translation, then you're not really TRANSLATING anymore. you're interpreting. Japanese is hard D:
