I'm kind of curious about Dreamwidth Studios, which appears to be a sort of "prestige" artsy version of LiveJournal. I've thought about getting a paid LJ account, but if I do that, I don't want to pay for a lame "inverarity68" account ID. I want a cool account ID, like "inverarity."

(Yes, I realize your measure of coolness may differ from mine. :P)

Anyway, I actually tried to buy a Dreamwidth account, and was foiled at every turn. I couldn't log in with OpenID, and when I had a one-month account in my cart and went to PayPal, somehow the payment disappeared and I was back to an empty cart (and PayPal says no money was sent).

Dreamwidth Studios doesn't seem to play well with other sites.

So, if any of you have a fancy-schmancy Dreamwidth account and one of those cool, spiffy invite codes, do you think you could spare one for me? (Email is Inverarity68 at yahoo dot com.)

I am not exactly sure what I'll do with it if I get one, but I'll probably start by seeing if the import-from-LJ feature actually works.

It is possible I may at some point decide to transition either to DW or to another (paid) LJ account.

I've avoided getting personal or political on my LJ, and I do want to maintain a site that's purely for fan fiction. However, as some of you know, I can be drawn into debates, and sometimes I do want to rant about something other than crazy Snape fans.

I've kept my personal opinions off of this LJ mostly to avoid alienating people with different views. (And trust me, I have very different views from some of y'all.) I won't start making heads explode until and if I have a separate site where those of you who only want to read about my writing can go, and tra-la-la-la-la past the fact that if we started talking about religion or politics, there would be blood on the floor.

I'm not sure whether I'd leave this site as the fan fiction-only one, or use the new one as my pimp site, and turn this one into the soapbox. But I'll give plenty of warning so those of you who don't want to be heartbroken by my horribly wrong and bad political/religious views (or spanked for your horribly wrong and bad political/religious views :P) can change your bookmarks/subscriptions/RSS feeds accordingly.

Theopolitical debate, eh?

Where might one find these theopolitical debates and discussions, were one so inclined to go looking for them?

Just wonderin'

And just to comment on your dudeness: I think I initially believed you to be male (an unintentional assumption based on my own dudeness), but was later told by someone on MNFF (Angela Prongs, perhaps?) that you were a grrl. I don't recall my opinion changing; maybe I thought "that explains why the female characters of AQ are so strong," but that's it.

That you're a DUDE writing such strong female characters may be a greater accomplishment. Though perhaps you're writing the sort of assertive self-confident girls that you wish more girls had been raised to be. You know: anti-Bellas.

That's how I write Victoire, anyhow.

a purely fan fiction site

I'd leave this one as your fan fiction site since it's already established and people are used to coming here. If you wanted to switch, you'd either have to migrate all of your posts over to the new site or still have people coming here looking for your older fan fic.

I agree with keeping fan fic and real life views separate. It can be hard to stay focused and enjoy a story when you keep getting distracted by the author's latest political screed on his or her blog, both fan fic authors and 'real' authors.

I'll send you an invite code. -sends-

ETA: I get what you mean by the "cool" name thing. I changed mine from dorito2000 to ebilgatoloco because well dorito2000 is just not cool enough. >.> Lol.

I haven't really tried too much with DW since so few people that I know use it. Plus I have a Xanga as well so I don't know why I have to many bloody blogs. I also have a Vox account. -____-

ETA: I'd keep this one as your fanfiction since from what I understand it's already established as such. I know that my Xanga account is my teacher blog. And this is my "personal life" blog. And I do keep another LJ account for fanfiction but rarely use it.

>.> I sent you an invite code too, because I hadn't read The Ebil One's comment above when I sent it. /Shar being stupid. My Dreamwidth ID is different from my LJ(sharthemystic), however, so I thought I should let you know, in case you wonder where that invite came from.

Also, the-import-from-LJ feature does work. >.> I use it. And the import feature isn't restricted to LJ alone. /random information.

I agree with keeping this as your fanfiction account, and making another for
other things, because I think that people have started tracking this account for all your fanfiction spoilers/updates. At least, I have. Changing to another site means having to work with filters and notifications- argh, I do not look forward to doing that. >.<
