My OF novel is still being picked at chapter by chapter, but mostly the comments are nitpicks. I am still mulling over whether Part I needs to be rewritten entirely, but the rest I believe I will let mostly stand. Unless someone else comes up with a devastating critique that convinces me it all sucks and is not ready, blah blah blah.

I'm still planning to wait until after the new year to take another pass at revising, and then maybe I will actually start querying, once the flood of NaNoWriMo novels has stopped clogging the slush piles.

Meanwhile, I have another OF novel idea (well, several actually, but one that's really stuck in my head), and I'm looking at why I write at such a relatively slow pace and how I will never get all the writing done I want to if I don't improve my time management skills, and mostly it boils down to TURN OFF THE !$%&@**NG INTERNET!!!!

So, I'm working on that. Trying to set up a "writer's den" where I will not be online while I'm writing. It's harder than you think. Especially when it's so convenient to do a quick Google search for a name or place or something else you want to look up while you're writing.

Now, for those of you who could care less whether I ever get anything pro-published:

AQATWA

“Hah,” Julia said. “You are terrible at being noble, Alexandra.”

“Yeah,” Alexandra said, “I guess I am.”

Lately I've had a few good evenings where I just churned out a few thousand words at a shot. Except I still don't really know where I'm going or if the scenes I just wrote are useless and gratuitous.

But the current word count for AQATWA is 24,587. I am now on chapter five (six, if you count the prologue).

Alexandra is being rather dramatic. She's fifteen.

(Well, fourteen-year-olds are pretty dramatic too. And sixteen-year-olds. Gads, teenagers can be annoying.)

oh yes, the internets be very much a double edged sword of very useful and very, very distracting :0

I have an excellent plan to limit my internet time. The children kill the battery on my ipad everytime I turn around and I only get a couple minutes before it needs to be plugged in.

Teenagers can be annoying

It's a gift we have. :-)

Then again, I took advance4d classes in being an annoying braggart so...

Also, any comment on when we can expect a sequel to Hogwarts Houses Divided? seeing as how you said you'd start working on it after AQATSA

Actually, I said I was going to write it someday... I am not even making vague promises about when it will happen.

I am envious of your word count... I'm doing NaNo and I am at 30,000 words, about 8,000 of which are a false start. I started with my main character as a teenager.... Couldn't deal with trying to make up believable, sympathetic teens, so I started over with my main character as a 20 something.

I will not, however, be adding to the slush pile, I just want to make it "good enough" to let family and friends read it.

Writing is hard.
