Yes, I kind of suck right now. No progress to report.

Really, I'm going to finish AQATWA. Honest. I haven't lost interest or motivation. Just... temporarily suffering from a lack of writing mojo. That's why the lack of AQ posts lately.

The book is maybe not quite half done, I just need to get moving again on the second half.

So as a reward for your patience (those of you still following my LJ), I will stop teasing you with the title. The title of AQ book five is Alexandra Quick and the World Away.

Still aiming to finish by the end of (this) year. Which will happen. If I can start writing again...

In other news, I received a stern email from Box.com, which is where I hosted my ebook downloads, claiming they had received a "complaint" about "copyright infringement."

I doubt J.K. Rowling and her lawyers are sending C&D orders to hosting sites, so either Box.com just started cracking down on fan fiction, or someone out there doesn't like me. Boo.

I'll try to find another hosting site with fanfic-friendly TOS soonish.

So now we have Lands Below, Lands Beyond, and World Away... I sense a pattern here...

But I guess this means that Alexandra has a hard time staying in her own world, and that whatever the World Away is, it will probably be detrimental to her health and lead to an inevitable near-death experience.

Also, the copyright infringement is ridiculous. Then again, I already have my copies on my e-reader :)

Hope your writing mojo decides to show its head again soon :)

Interesting, is the World Away another plane like the Lands Below/Beyond, or simply referring to the World Away from Charmbridge? Or (DUH-NUH)... could it be both? For some reason this title gives me the vague feeling that this might be the book where Alex finally has to fulfill her promise to the corn maidens, though I can't put my finger on exactly why.

YES YES YES

Thank you!!! And is there anything we fans can do to get you out of writer's block? We'd LOVE to help :-)

Indeed. I will fill 10 threads with alignment debates with myself if that will help.

That title is very enticing! Great spark for speculation.

Hi, I've been a long-time lurker here, looking in 2-3 times a week for several years now to see what's the latest in the Quick-verse. I created a LJ account just now so I could comment here and say I hope you get re-mojoified real soon.

Archive of Our Own is a fan fiction website that offers downloading of the stories posted there.

I thought they were invite-only. Do they allow downloading of epubs and PDFs?

When you click on a fic, at the top where it says Entire Work, Next Chapter, etc. there is a button that says Download with an arrow and if you click that, it gives you options for MOBI, EPUB, PDF, and HTML.

Keep writing!

I am another one of those faceless people you are unaware of who finds your work utterly absorbing. I just set up a LJ login just so that I could tell you: Keep at it, please! We love your writing. I have read all the so-far released AQ books multiple times. AQ is probably my #1 favorite fan fiction anywhere, even beating out HPMOR, which seems to be very popular. Your reimagination of America is particularly nice... all these little touches that speak to the many subcultures, and of course, great characters and beautifully constructed plot! Your work is enjoyed by more people than you realize, if as you say in one of your earlier posts, your fan base is "small"-- either that, or somehow AQ has not received the attention it deserves. If it were legal for you to raise money via AQ, I would pay in a heartbeat. In any case, we are rooting for you to recover your mojo soon, and look forward to reading what you eventually put out.

Ditto!!

I'm with fieryfern - a quiet fan who's just observing from the sideline. I just keep checking back to see how the progress goes eagerly awaiting what you write! Hope your mojo is on the return and am probably going to start on a re-read here shortly to be caught back up when World Away hits the virtual shelves. IMO you're one of the best writers I've come across in fan-fic (your self-critical posts on LJ not withstanding), and I hope that your "real" projects soon come to fruition as well. Thanks again for a great storyline and interesting character development.
