Just a question:

Is David going to be pulling his head out of his ass any time soon? I understand how he has a girlfriend now, and is involved in sports, and extracurricular activities, which is why this isn't a critical question, but more just curiosity on my part.

You'll see a bit more of David in upcoming chapters. As for pulling his head out of his ass, he is thirteen, just like Alexandra...

Hi Inverarity! If you can't tell by my user name, I'm an Alex and Larry shipper! I've been reading your Alexandra Quick series for awhile now but have not (for whatever technical reason) been able to review on other sites.
Now that that's out of the way, I love this series! What caught my attention was your writing style, which is articulate and evocative and unpretentious, even though I had a hard time relating to Alexandra at first. (What type of reader does this make me?) :) As I've enjoyed watching her develop as a character, somewhere along the way I've come to really identify with her.
Ok, we're somewhat caught up; now on to this chapter. I thought we were going to see Abe again, but I'm not disappointed with the time turner plot twist. (Although I'm a little apprehensive about what Alex will do with it.) You kept us in suspense about Valeria's activities until she made the comment to Triss that they'll "be back before [Triss] left." To be honest, I didn't suspect that Valeria had a time turner until this comment and then I knew exactly what was going on. Looking back, I can see that Alex thinking she heard voices the night before could have been a clue.(From Alex's perspective, it was before she saw Valeria, but with the time turner, it could have been Valeria talking to the house elves either before or after her trip, as long as she didn't meet herself). Another thing that stuck out to me as I re-read the previous chapter was that V wasn't tired the morning after her first trip, maybe because she used the time turner to get enough sleep.
Well, that's all my speculations for now! I'm really enjoying this story!
