Sweet. But this is all happening too early in the book to be the end. After all, this is a bildungsroman, and in that kind of model, she somehow needs to finish the school year. Plus, she needs to wrap up a lot of loose ends, like with her mother being a cat and making peace with her presumed mother turned sister, plus confronting her other aunt (which will surely follow next chapter).

I wonder whether Auntie Lilith will now count this unauthorized escapade for credit for wizarding social studies and give her a superior (well, that would fit Dumbledore, but not Lilith).

Other question: I am a little confused as to the two silent spectators, the sacrifices. If I got it right, were they the two Alexandra beat last chapter, and it turns out they were aurors? So Alex kind of caused the demise of one and the endangerment of the other, or those are two separate pairs of people?

In separate news, Inverarity, while we are reading, have you perhaps started working on AQ5?

God, I really enjoyed that chapter. It was nice seeing Alex get some respect from an adult, after all the crap she's had to put up with, with everyone around her lying to her about her parentage. A nice experience to ground her more in the real world, too, while giving her (maybe) a greater respect for her talents and where they rank in the world.

awesome chapter. loved the manuelito-alex duel. i must say, i am really really intrigued by his character and by the apparent depth of his knowledge of things relating to the lands below.

I was stuck deeply in this chapter how Alex doesn't take the wizarding world's attitudes of 'things are just so' for granted the way Rowling's characters do.

Seeing Tsotsi's attitude, and the Navajo/Hopi general attitude of 'well, those aren't our rules so no need to mention those little details' seems to match Alex's attitude in general, but is also showing that under the right circumstances the magical and muggle world need not be seperate.

This exposure is just one of the little things that are building up to turn Alex into a little subversive....and good for her.

I suspect while a lot of HP fans love your work, some, typically the kind who think Mugglenet is just wonderful, must hate your work with a passion.

Outstanding chapter. The fight scene was great, and I really liked Henry's comparison of our heroine to a sheep dog. Looks like my prediction about Alexandra killing John was wrong - or perhaps just premature. I do expect they will have at least one more confrontation. And I am extremely interested to see how - or if - Alexandra will wiggle out of expulsion for this whole stunt.

I hope this isn't the last we see of Henry Tsotsie. This whole adventure in the Indian Territories has been one of the best parts of the whole series. The dueling scenes, in particular, are much better than similar scenes in the Harry Potter books. That's not a dig at Rowling, it's just my opinion.

Also, I want to second the comment about how refreshing it is to not have every character in this world automatically take the generally accepted wizarding viewpoints for granted, especially a girl like Alex, who was born outside of that culture. She's got questions, and doesn't simply accept every explanation as right, or even true.

I liked the way she and Tsotsie parted ways. Alex actually showed a bit of maturity in that scene. Maybe she's just to tired to act like a brat.

I'm glad we're finally starting to tie up loose ends, although I do wonder if she'll ever be in school! She's quite talented but definitely needs an education.

I am a recent comer to the AQ world (this has been somewhat bad for my recent productivity I'm afraid) and I want to congratulate you on one of the most believable (and feisty) characters and worlds I've seen in a fanfic. The diversity of characters and backgrounds, as well as AQ's unwillingness to accept the status quo related to nearly everything in the wizarding and muggle world make your story not just one about "troublesome" coming of age, but a thoughtful critique of the rules, norms, and the nature of prejudice in JKR's world.

The recent journey through the Indian territories and AQ's growing relationship with the Grimm sisters especially serve to advance the plot and entertain in equal measures.
Just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful story and keep up the good work!
