Alexandra Quick and the Stars Above

Yes, I finished the first draft of Alexandra Quick and the Stars Above.

46 chapters and (EEEEEEEE!) 276,000 words. That's half the length of War and Peace.

(By comparison, AQATTC was 162,000 words, AQATLB was 227,000 words, and AQATDR was just under 200,000 words.)

Hopefully the word count will shrink a bit in editing. And believe me, this book needs a lot of editing. Once I've gone through the entire book and revised each chapter, and hopefully caught most of the plot holes and dropped threads and extraneous material, it will be ready for my betas to start working on it.

But -- first draft finished! Yay!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2

So anyway, I rewarded myself by finally going to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2. I saw the 3D version, not because I particularly wanted to see it in 3D but because the next available non-3D version wasn't showing until later than I wanted to stay out.

The 3D was kind of cool in places, though I don't think it really added much. As for the movie itself, I admit I am a bit of a sucker for epic spectacle, so being that this was the biggest, most expensive film and the grand finale, I liked it a lot. It was fairly faithful to the book and didn't make any real teeth-gnashing alterations, though obviously a lot of the small details from the novel were omitted. And David Yates is totally a Harry/Hermione shipper.

I don't know which, if any, of Radcliffe, Grint, and Watson are likely to become future A-listers (or even B-listers), but they all turned in fair performances. Ironically, it was Alan Rickman who I think turned in the most disappointing performance, maybe because by now the poor guy is showing his age. In most of his scenes, he just kind of looked half asleep and delivered his characteristic drawl in slow motion.

I definitely think it's worth seeing in a theater, with or without 3D.

I didn't like that they excluded the backstory about Dumbledore. I understand why they did, I still didn't like it.

Also, I love you.

Much congratulations! I guess this means I should start rereading the first three books soon...

And David Yates is totally a Harry/Hermione shipper.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw this, lol.

I think Daniel Radcliffe has the biggest chance to be a future A-lister (he's already in a Broadway play), followed by Emma Watson. Poor Rupert Grint will be left in the dust I think. But we'll see.

~ Yay! Can't wait to read it.
~ Steve Kloves is a big Harry/Hermione shipper as well. Goblet Of Fire was shamelessly Harry/Hermione.
~ Maggie Smith and Matthew Lewis were the best things about the movie, and Radcliffe, Watson and Grint were all pretty decent, but Alan Rickman's performance wasn't as good as it used to be.
~ It's somewhat unnerving to see some of the best actors in Britain reduced to glorified extras with about two lines. Hell, Miriam Margoyles didn't even have a speaking part.

Yes! Can't wait (but I shall try). Movie was indeed worth seeing. Overall, they did a very good job with everything. I think Emma Watson has the best chance in Hollywood while Daniel Radcliffe is more likely to be successful on Broadway. Rupert Grint, well, we'll see. Again, congratulations on AQATSA.

Squee at more AQ.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I just read on the Interweb, so it must be true :)

Evanna caught anorexia, she was in hospital, she read the Potter books and it gave her the will to live. If this story is true it is a crowning moment of awesome.

Congratulations

I'm very excited and looking forward to the next AQ book. I've only just gotten into the world of fanfiction but I can already say with surety that Alexandra Quick is one of my favorites. I've already suggested it to several of my friends and they are currently raving about it!

Best of Luck

SQUEEEEE!!!!

I guess I was spoiled, the first two AQ books were posted before I found them and the third one was mere weeks away. It feels like a long time.

I liked the DH part2 because it did leave out all that extraneous stuff. And I especially liked what they did with the climax of the movie - none of this "Think and try for remorse, Riddle". The thought of that line absolutely makes me cringe.
